Arsenal has signed a shot stopper in the form of Hugo Keto. He belongs to Finland and is only 18 years of age right now.
He is not expected to feature for the first team of Gunners in the upcoming season though. The Arsenal management would definitely like him to make appearances for the youth side for a couple of seasons before they try him at the league stage.
The Gunners were in competition with the Reds to secure the services of Keto. Both the clubs had the player on trial for a short period of time and both were ready to sign him up.
Therefore, the player himself had to make the decision which club he wanted to play for and he eventually opted for Arsenal.
Keto is a fantastically built goalie with a height of more than 6 feet. The Arsenal scouts were believed to be very impressed having seen him play in Finland.
Liverpool was actually expected to leave Arsenal behind in this deal. Keto has been a fan of the Reds since his boyhood days and thus, he was supposed to make his way to Anfield, but, it wasn’t to be. The teenager decided to go to Emirates for some reason.
Some of the Arsenal supporters were not happy with the fact that the manager Arsene Wenger is currently working as an expert in Brazil and not focussing on transfer activities properly. Now, they would be slightly happy that a promising, young goalkeeper has been brought in. There have been reports that the works have been done on Alexis Sanchez deal as well.
Arsenal’s pre-season would start on 19th of this month when they take on Boreham Wood. Thereafter, they will travel to the United States of America to face New York Red Bulls in a friendly fixture.
