Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has said that he is now much better player after having left Arsenal for Barcelona in the summer. Cesc Fabregas move to his hometown club Barcelona in the summer for £ 35 million. He has been a major influence in the Barcelona team, which has lost the services of David Villa till the end of the season.
In the absence of the Spaniard, Barcelona have been utilising midfielder Iniesta on the wings. Initially, it was thought that Cesc Fabregas would struggle to get game time at Barcelona, but due to this injury Cesc Fabregas has been a regular first-team player at Barcelona.
Now, ahead of the match with Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final, Fabregas has said that leasing Arsenal was one of his best decisions, as it has helped him become a much better player. Fabregas was a much better influence during the initial part of the campaign when he scored 14 goals in just 23 matches for Barcelona, but his form has dipped of late. Still, Fabregas says that he is a much better player than he was at Arsenal because he is surrounded by much better players like Xavi, Iniesta, and Lionel Messi.
“I feel I know more about what my position is now than I did at Arsenal – at Arsenal I was tactically not very good at all. I did whatever I wanted. Now I have to think more about the team tactically. Before I was going up and down and sometimes a little bit lost in the important moment because I wanted to do everything. Now, my team-mates are more experienced than me,” Fabregas said.
Arsenal have missed Fabregas, with their team struggling to win the midfield battles, and the premier league betting odds often making them underdogs even at home.
Barcelona will be looking to become the first team to win two consecutive Champions League titles when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the first leg on Wednesday night.
