Newly capped England international Ben White is attracting the interest of Premier League giants Manchester United according to the report from popular English publication The Athletic. It was stated that the Red Devils are interested in signing the Brighton and Hove Albion defender but Arsenal are in pole position to sign him in this summer’s transfer window.
Apart from a right winger, Manchester United are said to be interested in signing a central defensive partner for club skipper Harry Maguire which is where someone like White comes in. The Brighton defender can function well as a centre back, as a defensive midfielder, and as a fullback. He could be the perfect man to partner Maguire in defence.
Unlike Manchester United, Arsenal have made a big offer for White though it was rejected by his club. The Gunners made a bid of around £40m for the player and it was turned down by Brighton who are holding out for over £50m for the 23-year-old who made his debut for his country earlier this month.
Brighton defender White played his first game for his country as a substitute in the slender 1-0 victory over Austria in an international friendly with young attacker Bukayo Saka getting the only goal of the game in the second half. Arsenal star Saka won the game with his first goal for the Three Lions. His full debut for England in the 1-0 win over Romania.
